Retail Office Automation is a front end application for petrol pump automation. It has various modules, such as, POS (Point Of Sales to support sales), BOS (Back Office Server to support purchase, delivery and inventory of wet and dry stocks) and FMA (Forecourt Management Application to support forecourt device configuration and management).

The interface with Forecourt devices, such as, dispensers, tanks is handled through Forecourt Controller using messages on FIX protocol. The application also interfaces with head office system, to get price changes and update sales/purchase/inventory data.

Prescient is involved in design, development and maintenance of the automation system. Prescient has designed the solution as a modular architecture which is being developed in a phased manner. The development includes major modules as under:

1. Point of Sales – Managing retail sales
2. Back office Server – Managing of Purchase, Inventory-Dry Item, Wet item, delivery, MIS, etc
3. Forecourt Management Application- Configuring, monitoring and controlling of devices such as dispensers, OPT, etc
4. Forecourt Communication – communication protocol to interface with Forecourt devices.
5. Head office Application & Reporting.
6. Diagnostics & Error Alerts (through e-mails and SMS).
7. Electronic Payment integration.
8. End of day / scheduled data transfers between RO & HO
9. MIS

The design has considered the support of internationalization and will integrate with standard external devices such as bar code, price pole, cash drawer, etc.
